Local preachers and worship leaders
Local preachers are working and retired people,
from a wide variety of backgrounds. They
complete a period of training which mixes academic and practical work, under
the guidance of an experienced local preacher.
Local preachers are "lay" not "ordained ministers"
yet their ministry is recognised and transferable across the Methodist
Church. They preach on a regular basis -
and usually lead the majority of worship services.
Local preachers "on trial" are Local preachers in the second stage of training.
Local preachers "on note" are local preachers in the first stage of training.
"Worship leaders" train alongside local preachers. Their ministry is recognised within each local church and they work with the appointed local preacher or minister to create worship that reflects and challenges the local congregation.
Please contact the circuit office for the current list of local preachers and worship leaders in the circuit.
